Introduction
The Solana Foundation, committed to the propagation, security, and decentralization of the Solana network. It has declared Solana has the pioneering Layer 1 blockchain. Solana Foundation as assimilated artificial intelligence (AI) through the deployment of a ChatGPT plugin developed by Solana Labs. In further advancements, the Foundation has also initiated an AI accelerator program for university students. A strategic grant program aimed at speeding up the use and incorporation of AI on Solana.
Solana and ChatGPT
Currently available for download on Github, this is the first integration of a ChatGPT plugin with a Layer 1 blockchain. According to Solana Labs, this integration will provide a blueprint for how AI can simplify the comprehension of Solana data and protocols. Moreover, it will expedite the process of acquiring data related to Solana’s computational infrastructure and DeFi projects. The plugin also permits purchasing NFTs, token transfers, inspection of transactions, public account data interpretation, and identification of NFT collections according to floor price.
“Every developer should be contemplating how their consumer-oriented apps will be interacted with through an AI model because this is a novel paradigm for instructing computers,” stated Anatoly Yakovenko, the co-founder of Solana and CEO of Solana Labs. He further emphasized that AI would enhance Solana’s usability and comprehensibility.
Accelerating AI Integration
The unique characteristics of Solana – swift throughput, near-zero costs, and user-friendliness – enable AI models to seamlessly and efficiently engage with the network. Despite being in its nascent stages, Solana is witnessing a surge of AI activity in the web3 space.
In a bid to foster the integration of machine learning models with Solana protocols, the Solana Foundation has boosted its AI-focused strategic grants program, raising the fund from the original $1 million to $10 million. This rolling grants program has already received 50 applications and invites new and existing projects to participate.
The Solana Accelerator Program
The Foundation has also initiated a three-month accelerator program dedicated to encouraging university students to experiment with blockchain and AI. It has hundreds of project applications and contributions. This program has already spawned ‘ask Solana U’. A chatbot that provides answers to queries related to Solana development. Also, ‘Solana Audits AI’, which enhances security for Solana-based applications.
AI Initiatives in the Solana Ecosystem
Several projects within the Solana ecosystem are already incorporating AI technology. Hivemapper launched AI Trainers in mid-April to enhance its AI’s capability to transform real-world imagery into high-quality digital maps. Context and MarginFi have developed AI-powered chatbots focused on Solana and numerous Solana ecosystem projects.
